The Skilled General Operative is responsible for assisting and carrying out plasterboarding and slabbing works on construction projects. The role involves installing plasterboard, preparing surfaces, and supporting finishing trades while maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Install plasterboard to walls, ceilings, and partitions
Measure, cut, and fix plasterboard accurately
Assist with metal stud partitions and drylining systems
Carry out dot and dab plasterboard installation
Fix boards using screws, adhesives, or fixings as required
Assist with taping, jointing, and finishing preparation
Handle and install slabs safely on site
Work from drawings and supervisor instructions
Maintain clean and organised work areas
Follow all health and safety procedures
Skills & Requirements
Experience in plasterboarding, drylining, or similar work
Ability to measure and cut materials accurately
Knowledge of fixing methods and tools
Safe Pass
Manual Handling certification
Good attention to detail
Own tools
Ability to work as part of a team
Physically fit and capable of lifting boards
Working Conditions
Indoor and outdoor construction environments
Physically demanding work
Early starts and possible overtime
