Morgan McKinley is seeking an experienced Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Construction Co-Ordinator for a long-term contract assignment with a leading global pharmaceutical client. This is a fantastic opportunity to act as the client's representative on a major capital project, ensuring the successful delivery of all M&E and construction activities.

Job Title: Mechanical and Electrical Construction Co-Ordinator
Client: Leading Global Pharmaceutical Company
Agency: Morgan McKinley
Location: Athlone, Co. Westmeath

Contract: 12-Month Daily Rate Contract (strong potential for extension)

Role & Responsibilities

As the on-site client representative, you will play a pivotal role in driving project success. Your primary objective will be to oversee all Construction (CSA) and Mechanical, Electrical & Process (MEP) works, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance are met.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Client Representation: Act as the primary client representative on site, attending all relevant meetings to ensure the construction manager and contractors are aligned with client expectations.
  • On-Site Coordination: Monitor and coordinate all construction (CSA) and MEP works, ensuring seamless integration between different trades and workstreams.
  • Safety Leadership: Champion and drive construction safety management, ensuring strict compliance with all EHS protocols and fostering a proactive safety culture on site.
  • Project Controls: Meticulously manage project schedules, costs, and quality control. You will challenge proposals from the construction management team and contractors to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Scope Management: Track multiple project scopes concurrently, identifying potential out-of-scope issues early and implementing corrective actions. You'll also be capable of developing scopes of work with the design house and client.
  • Live Environment Management: Skillfully manage construction activities within live operational facility environments, ensuring zero impact on ongoing operations by managing and mitigating risks.
  • Handover & Commissioning: Coordinate and review all handover documentation, including commissioning activities, snagging, and pre-startup checklists, to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Provide clear, concise, and regular project updates to internal stakeholders and project teams, fostering a collaborative and proactive site culture.
  • Flexibility: Be prepared to support and supervise out-of-hours works (evenings and weekends) as required to meet project milestones.

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking for a driven and technically proficient professional with a proven track record in large-scale pharmaceutical construction projects.

Essential criteria:

  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrable experience as an MEP Coordinator or a similar role on large-scale pharmaceutical construction projects valued at over €30 million.
  • Experience: A minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in MEP and construction project coordination.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction safety, GMP environments, and the complexities of working within live operational facilities. Strong knowledge of MEP systems design, installation, and commissioning is essential.
  • Project Management Skills: Excellent knowledge of project controls (schedule, cost, quality) and a proven ability to manage multiple work fronts and contractors concurrently.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence, lead, and collaborate effectively. You must be able to drive action, resolve issues independently, and maintain project momentum.
  • Handover Experience: Experience managing handover packs, pre-startup controls, and snagging processes.
  • Proficiency: Ability to proficiently interpret scopes of work, drawings, and technical specifications.
Work Arrangement
  • This role is based on-site in Athlone 5 days per week to ensure effective project oversight.
  • A hybrid working option may become available when project workloads and milestones allow.
